Description
Cradled between the fall foliage of yellows, golds and greens the cascading waters of Crabtree Falls in the Blue Ridge Mountains is a welcome sight after a mile and a half hike.
Last Sunday my husband and I were able to do shinrin-yoku (forest bathing). We started our hike at the Crabtree Meadows Campground parking lot so all told it was 1.5 miles each way. The lower elevations are just starting to get some autumn yellows and golds in the trees. The trail down to Crabtree Falls in North Carolina was a one mile treacherous mile hike. I say treacherous because with the rain the day before and early morning made the rocks and the exposed roots along the winding trail slick. Once we got around the final bend and the Falls came into sight - it was glorious! For the next 40 minutes or so I took pictures and just zenned out to the sound of the rushing water and breathed in the autumn air.
