In a canal across the street from a Nature Preserve there was this tricolored heron 'fishing'. During the 30 minutes of watching this bird, I would see him stand very still, tense up, then take wing and pounce on the fish. He would walk up and down the canal seeking food. My patience was rewarded when he ventured further down the canal into the reflection of the tree with the yellow blossoms. He caught quite a few small fish before he finally took flight and flew away.
